Çorum which was seized from Byzantines by Danişmend Ahmet Gazi was administered by Sivas branch of Danishmend Beylic. Their capital became Niksar. Danishmend Beylic who lived independently until 1174 was collapsed by Anatolian Seljuks King Kılıç Arslan II and their territories were overtaken by Anatolian Seljuk State.

Most of Anatolia was conquered by Anatolian Seljuks in the period of Danishmends. Upon the attack of Crusaders Army to Ankara, Ankara governor Fetih Han had to retreat to Çorum.
