Çorum has significant traces of the past. There are ruins everywhere which come from past up to now. Hittites start to conquer Anatolia from this region.
In the region, the ruins of the civilizations stay together or overlap. On the one side there are Phrygian, Roman, Byzantine era graves next to a Hittite tumulus or floor mosaics ; on the other side, there are Seljuk caravanserais (inn with a large yard) ruins and it is possible to see Ottoman pieces next to these.
There are many natural and artificial caves having the characteristics of prehistoric ages. The ruins of written history are taken to light with the excavations and Çorum shows how important an ancient historical center it is.
